Dogs head into subsection playoffs

Steph Krupke The Bulldogs lost their last three regular season road games, in preparation of the subsection playoffs, which started Tuesday.

The Bulldogs traveled to Sauk Centre on Monday, Feb. 19, for a make-up game against the conference-leading Streeters.

The Dogs started out slowly, only scoring five points in the first half. They scored only one point in the second quarter. The Streeters scored 26 in the first half and took a 20-point lead.

The Dogs picked it up in the second half. They outscored the Streeters by seven points in the second half, but it was not enough. The Dogs dropped the game 51-37.

Steph Krupke (shooting at right) led the Bulldogs with 14 points.

Heidi Jansen led the team with seven rebounds.

The Bulldogs played at Litchfield last night in the first round of the subsection playoffs. The Bulldogs were seeded #7 and the Dragons #2. If the Bulldogs pull off the upset, they will play either Annandale or Howard Lake-Waverly at Dassel-Cokato on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Feb. 20, the Dogs traveled to St. Cloud to take on the Crusaders and lost 52-37.

The Dogs started off the game strong. They outscored the Crusaders by three in the first quarter, but the Crusaders came back to take a one-point lead at the half, 21-20.

The Crusaders came out in the third quarter determined to pull ahead, and they did by outscoring the Dogs by nine points in the third quarter.

The Dogs put up a good fight in the fourth quarter, but fell short 52-37.

Krupke led Paynesville again with 15 points.

The Dogs took on the ACGC Falcons for the last game of the regular season on Friday night.

The Dogs played one of the best games of the season. They played good defense, and were very aggressive.

The game was close most of the way. The Dogs trailed by five after the first quarter, but outscored the Falcons by two in the second quarter.

Dogs were down by three at half time.

ACGC increased their lead by one in the third quarter, but erupted for 25 points, outscoring Paynesville by ten points, in the fourth. ACGC won 70-56.

Krupke carried the team with 30 points.
