PAHS danceline places sixth at sections

By Michael Jacobson

The Paynesville Pirouettes placed sixth out of 11 teams in their section meet on Saturday in Montevideo. The top four teams advanced to state competition.

The Pirouettes had placed fifth in the section last year and were beaten by the same four teams on Saturday plus Montevideo, a state power, moved into the section this year and took first place.

The results were: 1) Montevideo; 2) Yellow Medicine East; 3) Lac Qui Parle Valley; 4) Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop; 5) New Ulm Cathedral; 6) Paynesville; 7) Minneota; 8) Renville County West; 9) BOLD; 10) Watertown-Mayer; 11) Albany.

"This is really where I had placed us, though I had hoped for higher, of course," said coach Becky Hoey.

"I have a large group of sophomores this year," she added, "and as they gain more experience I can only see the Pirouettes improving and placing higher."
