Ice fishing contest held on Lake Koronis

Nineteen anglers combined to catch 15 perch during an ice fishing contest on Lake Koronis on Saturday morning. The contest was organized by the Paynesville Community Club and held on the lake near Veteran's Memorial Park.

Former resident Kevin Odell took the grand prize, a gas ice auger, for the largest fish with a four-ounce perch. Odell caught five perch, totaling just over one pound. He also caught the first fish.

Allan Boie caught four perch, Jamie Wolbeck caught three, Jake Scheierl caught two, and Steve Stang caught one during the two-hour contest.
