Bullettes end danceline season at sections
The Paynesville Bullettes - the varsity danceline - took 13th place at the section meet on Saturday at Montevideo High School, completing their 2004-05 season.|
Nineteen teams competed at the section meet, with the top six advancing to the state meet on Saturday, Feb. 19. Three conference rivals of the Bullettes finished in the top six - Montevideo (fourth), Lac Qui Parle Valley (fifth), and Melrose (sixth). Also advancing to state were New Ulm (first), Yellow Medicine East (second), and Aitkin (third).
Senior Michelle Magedanz and sophomore Kayla Rohe show their high kicks during the Bullettes' routine. The danceline ended this season at sections last week, placing 13th out of 19 teams.
"Though not evident by our placement, the Bullettes have had a great season of dance, and we feel like winners," said Jeanne Virant, who coaches the Bullettes with Barb Werlinger. "The team chemistry was high class. Our efforts to rework the dance according to scores brought out leadership and perserverance."
"The opportunity to see the team pull together and build a solid foundation for future efforts is what it's all about," added Virant, "not only for us but for all school teams. We are very proud of the Paynesville girls, their families, and the fans in the stands. We commend their efforts, sacrifices, and determination to continue the legacy of dance team in District #741. Thanks for a good season."
