LPGE thunders past Paynesville

The Bulldogs went to Long Prairie on Thursday night to face the state-rated LPGE Thunder. The Bulldogs started strong, but the Thunder gained control and won 64-32.

Nate Martinson won the opening tip over the Thunder's Matt Siegle and the Bulldogs were rolling. Playing well in the first quarter, the Dogs were only down by two at the end of the first, 15-13.

But Paynesville hit a cold streak in the second quarter, got outscored 18-5, and trailed by 15 at the break.

LPGE was just too much for the Bulldogs in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 31-14. The Thunder, who are tied for the conference lead at 7-1, went on to win easily.

The Bulldogs leading scorer was J.T. Koehn who had eight points. Koehn had been out the week before with iron deficiency.

In practice on Wednesday; however, just as Koehn was ready to play again, senior post T.J. Schultz broke a bone in his right hand. Hopefully, Schultz will be back for the last couple games of the season and the playoffs.

The Bulldogs' game against New London-Spicer - scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 30 - was postponed due to weather conditions. A make-up date has not been set yet.

The Bulldogs played Litchfield at home yesterday. They will host Eden Valley-Watkins on Saturday night.

Come and cheer on the Bulldogs.
