Morris/Benson gets revenge against Stars

By Michael Jacobson

Morris/Benson scored two goals in the third period to gain revenge against the River Lakes Stars boys' hockey team with a 6-4 victory last week. The Stars had beaten Morris/Benson 3-2 earlier in January, but this time their early lead evaporated and they lost.

Two minutes into the second period, junior wing Phil Theisen scored for the Stars to give them a 3-1 lead. But Morris/Benson got the next two goals to tie the game 3-3.

Later in the same period, Curran scored again to give the Stars a brief lead, but Morris/Benson tied the score again with two minutes left in the period and scored two goals midway through the third period to win 6-4.

In net, senior Justin Hartfiel made 24 saves, allowing four goals, and junior Blake Theisen made seven saves and allowed two goals.
