As the regular hockey season comes to an end, the Stars are still going strong. Their wins against Benson and Alexandria really put them on higher ground and prepared them for playoffs.

On Thursday, Jan. 28, the Stars played Benson.

In the first period, with only a couple minutes remaining in the period, MaryBeth Johannes scored a great goal, which was assisted by Anne Bohlman and Emily Moschkow. This goal really put the Stars ahead of the game. Now that they had their first goal, the Stars were really fired up.

The second period was a very intense one. Again, the second goal wasn’t scored until the end of the period. It was scored by Nina Bregle, and assisted by Kari Turkowski and Missy Sieben. This was basically the end of the game, as there was no scoring in the third period.

The Stars had skated hard, played aggressive, and had fun, too. This was a great win for the Stars. Along with the win, one of the Stars’ goalies, Shari Vogt, saved 40 shots on net.

Alexandria
Knowing that Alexandria had a poor record, the Stars focused on getting the third and fourth lines to play. It was going to be a good experience for them and winning the game, 4-0, just added to their excitement. In addition, it was parents’ night.

The first period was a really good period. The Stars played great. The first goal was scored by Bregle. Her goal was shot right in front of the net. She was just in the right place at the right time. Scoring the second goal of the game was Bridget Erickson. This was her first goal ever and she was really excited. At this point everyone was still playing great and having fun.

The second period was another good one. There were two more goals scored by the Stars and none by Alexandria. The goals were scored by Anne Bohlman (unassisted) and the other one by Moschkow. The score was 4-0 at the end of the second period.

In the third period there was no scoring, so the score remained 4-0. The Stars played great and really made the last game of the regular season a good one.

The Stars had their first playoff game Tuesday, Feb. 2, against Moorhead.
