Bullettes to host conference danceline meet

The Paynesville Bullettes - the varsity danceline at PAHS - took third place, receiving a trophy at a competition at the College of St. Benedict's on Saturday.

Five teams competed in Class A high kick category with Pelican Rapids taking first and Minneota taking second.

danceline The Bullettes were pleased with their routine changes that brought their scoring high enough to place third and bring home a trophy, according to coaches Jeanne Virant and Barb Werlinger.

Other classes at the St. Ben's competition were Class AA high kick and Class AA and Class A jazz funk for high school teams and competition for 12 college teams.

Danceline team members this year are sophomore Tawny Bengtson, junior Katie Bertram, senior captain Val Callenius, ninth grader Bre Engler, junior Maggie Frieler, junior Kelly Herzberg, senior captain Katie Holtzclaw, sophomore Amanda Lieser, senior Michelle Magedanz, ninth grader Ashley Ogdahl, junior Megan Reeck, sophomore Kayla Rohe, junior Amanda Skalicky, and junior Kacie Wander.

This week, the Bullettes will host the West Central Conference meet at PAHS on Thursday, Feb. 3, starting at 7 p.m. This competition was originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 22, at Montevideo but was postponed due to the snowy weather.

Seven teams are scheduled to give their high kick routines at the competition: Albany, Lac Qui Parle Valley, Melrose, Montevideo, New London-Spicer, Paynesville, and St. Cloud Cathedral. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
