Gymnasts place third in quadrangular

mueller has personal best on balance beam The Bulldog varsity gymnastics team had a quadrangular meet on Friday, Jan. 28 against NL-S, Litchfield and Maple Lake. The girls placed third of the four teams with a score of 119.55.

The Bulldogs started the night out on the vault competition. Amy Mueller scored her personal best with an 8.0 doing a handspring half-off. Joy Hemmesch was the only gymnast placing for Paynesville. She earned an 8.6 with a handspring full vault which put her in fourth place.

On the bars, all of the girls had nice routines with no falls. However, none of the girls placed.

In the beam competition, Mueller(pictured)also scored her personal best with a 7.1. Most of the team had no-fall routines, which helped their score.

The final event of the night for Paynesville was the floor exercise. Rachel Koehn scored her personal best with an 8.0 and a great routine. All of the gymnasts did well but no one placed.

Krysta Larson, Joy Hemmesch, and Michelle Wolbeck were all in the all-around competition but none of them placed.

The junior varsity did not compete in the quadrangular.

The Bulldog's next meet will be on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Alexandria. They went to Morris yesterday for a meet. Look for the results in next week's paper.
