Gymnastics team defeats Dassel-Cokato

The gymnasts traveled to Dassel/ Cokato Jan. 12 where they earned a victory with a score of 118.25-114.3.

The gymnast’s first competition was bars. Joy Hemmesch placed fifth with a 7.15. Earning third place with a 7.75 was Krysta Larson. Swinging into first was Camille Flanders with a score of 8.15. Flanders also got a Gymnast of the Meet (GOM) for her personal best on bars. Jenni Mayer earned a GOM for a tight routine and getting her jump ups.

Next for the Bulldogs was the vault competition. Jenni Mayer earned a 7.9 putting her in fifth place. Coming in fourth was Joy Hemmesch with a 7.95. In third place, with an 8.05, was Krysta Larson. Vaulting into second with an 8.2 was Camille Flanders.

Then it was off to floor for Paynesville. Jen Moser scored a 7.6 putting her in fifth place. Krysta Larson earned fourth place with a 7.65. Joy Hemmesch tumbled into third with a score of 7.75.

Beam was the final event of the evening. Jen Moser received fifth place with a 6.4. Coming in fourth was Camille Flanders with a score of 6.55. Earning third place, with a 6.65, was Joy Hemmesch. Balancing into first was Krysta Larson with a 7.55 and a no-fall routine.

In the all-around competition, Joy Hemmesch placed third with a 29.5. Krysta Larson earned second with a score of 31.0.

The Paynesville varsity gymnasts tasted defeat against New London-Spicer on Thursday, Jan. 14, 121.6-115.75.

The gymnasts started the night out on bars. Joy Hemmesch got a 6.95 putting her in fifth place. Earning second was Camille Flanders with a 7.2.

Then it was off to vault for Paynesville. Camille Flanders and Joy Hemmesch tied for second both earning 8.45. In fifth place was Jenni Mayer with an 8.1.

Paynesville did well on floor but not as well as vault. Joy Hemmesch and Krysta Larson tied for third with 7.85.

The Bulldogs finished with the beam competition where they didn’t do quite as well as the rest of the events. Earning second place was Krysta Larson with a 7.45. Jen Moser got a 6.9 putting her in fourth place.

In the all-around competition, Joy Hemmesch placed fourth with a 29.55 and earning third was Krysta Larson with a score of 29.9.
