Danceline pleased by performance at NL-S
The Bullettes - PAHS's danceline - finished in seventh place at a meet at New London-Spicer on Saturday.|
The team's coaches - Jeanne Virant and Barb Werlinger - were pleased with Bullettes' routine, scoring 3.4 points higher than at their first competition at Renville County West the previous week (where the Dogs were third).
The Bullettes had to adjust their routine at the last minute because junior Amanda Skalicky sprained her ankle during a halftime performance at the boys' basketball game on Friday night.
The Bullettes - front, front left, junior Maggie Frieler, senior Katie Holtzclaw, and senior Val Callenius - strike a pose at the end of their routine at halftime of the boys' basketball game on Friday night. They placed seventh at a meet at NL-S on Saturday.
The cold temperatures caused four of the 12 registered teams to pull out of the NL-S competition. Yellow Medicine East and Montevideo took first and second at the meet. Both were state competitors last year. Lac Qui Parle Valley was third, and Minneota was fourth.
Bullettes team members this year are sophomore Tawny Bengtson, junior Katie Bertram, senior Val Callenius, ninth grader Bre Engler, junior Maggie Frieler, junior Kelly Herzberg, senior Katie Holtzclaw, sophomore Amanda Lieser, senior Michelle Magedanz, ninth grader Ashley Ogdahl, junior Megan Reeck, sophomore Kayla Rohe, Skalicky, and junior Kacie Wander.
This week, the Bullettes will travel to Montevideo on Saturday for the West Central Conference meet.
Other scheduled competitions this winter are at St. Ben's on Saturday, Jan. 29 and sections at Monte on Saturday, Feb. 12.
The danceline is also scheduled to perform at halfime of the boys' basketball game on Thursday, Jan. 27; at halftime of the boys' basketball game on Tuesday, Feb. 1 (guy/girl dance); and at halftime of the girls' basketball game on Monday, Feb. 7 (parent's night).
