Wildcats sweep top spots in beating Bulldogs

The Bulldog gymnasts were defeated by New London-Sppicer on Thursday by a score of 132.40-120.35.

Paynesville started the night out on the vault competition. All of the girls had great vaults but only two placed. Jenni Mayer earned an 8.35 putting her in fifth place. Placing fourth with an 8.45 was Joy Hemmesch.

Next the Bulldogs moved to the bar competition. Joy Hemmesch placed fifth with a 7.5 and a very nice routine. Swing-ing into third was Krysta Larson with a 7.95. The team's total on bars was 28.15.

In the beam competition, the girls had a little bit of trouble on beam. Joy Hemmesch was the only one placing for Paynesville. She placed fifth with a 7.35.

The last event of the evening for the Bulldogs was the floor exercise. The girls all tumbled well and had great routines. Krysta Larson placed fifth with an 8.15. Earning third with an 8.35 was Joy Hemmesch. The total floor score for the Bulldogs was 32.05.

In the all-around competition, Krysta Larson earned fifth place with a 31.2. Placing fourth was Joy Hemmesch with a 31.65.

Coach Deb Nehowig commented,"I was pleased with our team score. The girls did a great job with their routines to score a season high."
