Turnovers hurt Lady Bulldog's basketball game

Eighteen turnovers hurt the Lady Bulldogs in their game against Sauk Centre Thursday night, Jan. 7, losing 57-44.

Paynesville came out strong in the first quarter to take a 18-14 lead. The Mainstreeters had a strong second quarter to take a 29-26 halftime lead, a lead they held for the rest of the game.

The Mainstreeters had balanced scoring which led to them taking a 44 to 34 lead by the end of the third quarter.

Leading the scoring for Paynesville was Tanya Lieser with 16 points, eight rebounds and five blocks. Also scoring double figures were Amber Michaelis with 12 and Carin Frenchick, 10.

Shari Wobeck’s 15 points led Sauk Centre. She was followed by Katy Stephan with 13 points and Ann Vogt with 11. Vogt recorded five of her points from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.

Amber Michaelis recorded seven assists for the Lady Bulldogs followed by Steph Krupke, Tiffany Rausch, and Carrie Hemmesch with three each.

Krupke led the team in steals with six while Frenchick recorded three.

The Lady Bulldogs recorded 16 fouls compared to the Mainstreeters 10.
