Bullettes take third at first meet

By Michael Jacobson

The Bullettes - PAHS's danceline - took third place at their first meet at Renville County West on Saturday.

With two team members out for injuries (junior Katie Bertram and junior Kacie Wander), the team rallied over the last week to make adjustments and performed well at Renville County West, according to the coaches Jeanne Virant and Barb Werlinger.

This year's routine reflects the experience of three returning seniors - captains Katie Holtzclaw and Val Callenius along with Michelle Magedanz - added the coaches.

Placing first and second on Saturday were New Ulm Cathedral and Renville County West respectively.

Team members of the Bullettes for 2004-05 are sophomore Tawny Bengtson, Bertram, Callenius, ninth grader Bre Engler, junior Maggie Frieler, junior Kelly Herzberg, Holtzclaw, sophomore Amanda Lieser, Magedanz, ninth grader Ashley Ogdahl, junior Megan Reeck, sophomore Kayla Rohe, junior Amanda Skalicky, and Wander. The Bullettes' routine was choreographed by Callenius, Holtzclaw, and Skalicky.

The Bullettes will perform at halftime at Friday's boys' basketball game and will compete at New London-Spicer on Saturday, Jan. 15. Other scheduled competitions this winter are: West Central Conference meet at Montevideo on Saturday, Jan. 22; at St. Ben's on Saturday, Jan. 29; and sections at Monte on Saturday, Feb. 12.
