Looman helps Winona State earn playoff berth

Dustin Looman, the son of Bruce and Nan Looman of Paynesville, completed the 2001 varsity football season at Winona State.

The Warriors had an outstanding season, according to their head coach Tom Sawyer, earning the school's first-ever berth in the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Warriors won their second straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship with a perfect 9-0 record. They established a single-season school record for victories with their 10-2 record.

Looman, a defensive lineman, was named the NJCAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2000 while playing for Rochester Community and Technical College, before transferring to Winona State.
