School boards adopts goals for district

The Paynesville Area School Board approved their goals for the 1998-99 school year at their Tuesday night meeting.

The district goals are:
1) Support and encourage a working knowledge of graduation standards for improved learning.

2) Support and encourage the successful use of available technology for improved learning.

3) Investigate the available options regarding the feasibility of constructing an auditorium and fitness facility.

Superintendent Howard Caldwell informed the board that Larson Engineering provided the district with the necessary specifications and drawings for the roof reinforcement project at the high school.

Engineers expressed a concern earlier this summer that the roof at the high school did not meet state code and would need reinforcement before a new rubberized roof could be laid.

Caldwell talked with R. A. Morton, construction manager on the elementary and middle school building project. Morton said he would be able to assist the district in determining who might be good contractors to obtain bids from for the project.

Caldwell informed the board that the elementary roofing project is partially completed and there is only the outside trim work left to be completed.
