The Stearns County District Attorney's Office is still waiting for reports from the Minnesota State Highway Patrol before deciding on charges in the September death of Robert Northway III.

Mary Yunkers, head of the criminal division for the county attorney, hopes to receive the last of the reports this week. A unit from the highway patrol was the first to arrive at the scene in St. Martin.

"We should have a decision by early January," Yunkers told the Paynesville Press in a phone interview.

According to preliminary reports, Northway died from injuries sustained in a fight at Doochies Bad Company Bar in St. Martin.

Northway's death was ruled a homicide upon completion of the medical examiner's review in early November.

The sheriff's department reported earlier that a number of people were involved in the fight. Once the state patrol reports are in, charges could be leveled, said Stearns County Sheriff Jim Kostreba.
