Filings open for townships

Filings for township elections, will be open from Tuesday, Dec. 31, through Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Each township will elect two positions this year: a supervisor to serve three years and a treasurer to serve two years. Union Grove Township will fill a treasurer's position that has been vacant since LeRoy Thomsen moved out of the township. Elections will be held in conjunction with annual township meetings on Tuesday, March 11.

Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, be a U.S. citizen, and be a resident of the township for 30 days prior to the election to be eligible. The filing fee is $2, and anyone interested in filing should contact their township clerk.

Incumbents up for re-election are:

Eden Lake Township: Ralph Hennen, supervisor; and Donald Schlangen, treasurer.

Irving Township: Russell Schmidt, supervisor; and Howard Powers, treasurer.

Lake Henry Township: Matt Hemmesch, supervisor; and Ray Loxtercamp, treasurer.

Manannah Township: LuVerne Becker, supervisor; and Janine Shepersky, treasurer.

Munsen Township: Donald Holthaus, supervisor; and Richard Behnen, treasurer.

Paynesville Township: John Atwood, supervisor; and Sharon Wendroth, treasurer.

Roseville Township: Foster Hudson, supervisor; and Terry Schaefer, treasurer.

St. Martin Township: Clarence Olmscheid, supervisor; and Leroy Garding, treasurer.

Union Grove Township: Verrol Smith, supervisor; (treasurer is vacant).

Zion Township: Duane Burg, supervisor; and Carol Wegner, treasurer.
