Florists help decorate mansion

For the second straight year, Karlene Gray of Paynesville was invited to decorate the governor's mansion for Christmas. Eight florists decorated the mansion in St. Paul for Christmas this year on Saturday, Nov. 18.

This is the second time that Gray - of Bloom Corner Floral in Paynesville - has been asked to help with the decorating.

A special invitation was also extended to her mother Kathy Webb this year to come and take part in the festivities. Webb is a "treasured" employee at Bloom Corner Floral.

Each year approximately 10 florists from all over Minnesota are asked to come to the mansion to prepare for its holiday season. A theme is picked - this year's being the "North Star" - which most of the decor is centered around. The florists use much of the mansion's collection of past ornaments and incorporate the new theme.
