Helget accepts city administrator position

By Linda Stelling

Steve Helget The Paynesville City Council is expected to approve a contract with Steve Helget to become the next city administrator at their meeting tonight.

Helget, the city administrator at Eagle Lake, verbally accepted the position on Friday, according to Mayor Jeff Thompson.

Helget was in Paynesville on Friday afternoon to look over the community and search for a home.

He described Paynesville as an attractive, clean community. He is looking forward to getting familiar with the community, he said in a telephone interview with the Press on Monday. He saw a lot of economic development during his tour of the town and areas for housing developments.

Before applying for the position, Helget researched the area and liked its proximity to St. Cloud and Willmar and his hometown of Sleepy Eye.

Helget, who is single, enjoys outdoor activities and is looking forward to enjoying what the Paynesville area has to offer.

The city administrator position in Paynesville has been vacant since April.
