Students of the Month selected for November

By Michael Jacobson

Three middle schoolers have been chosen as Students of the Month for November at Paynesville Area Middle School. Selected were sixth grader Kelli Flannigan, seventh grader Mike Kern, and eighth grader Aaron Burris.

Each month, students are selected by their teachers for their work in class, their relations with other students, and their overall attitude.

Sixth grader Kelli Flannigan, seventh grader Mike Kern, and eighth grader Aaron Burris were picked as Students of the Month for November at Paynesville Area Middle School.

Flannigan, the daughter of Kim and Tony Flannigan, wasn't quite sure why she received the award. "I don't know," she said. "Maybe because I work hard and stuff."

But she was surprised. "I got it in student council, and I was really surprised because I never really got any award except ones for my smile," she said.

She likes to play basketball, volleyball, street hockey, and run track. Her teachers state that she is genuinely friendly, works diligently, helps other students, is eager to learn, and is involved in her church, community, and school.

Kern, the son of Larry and Lynae Kern, was also surprised to receive his award. "I was working hard and paying attention," he said, when asked why he thought he received the award.

Kern plays hockey.

His teachers say that he is a hard worker in the classroom and that he is responsible, friendly, and considerate of others.

Burris, the son of Sue and Paul Burris, was also surprised to receive his award. He said he has no clue why he won. "I didn't believe it," he added. "I thought it was a joke." He plays football, wrestles, and plays baseball.

His teachers state that he works hard in his classes, puts his best effort into his work, and is polite and responsible.
