School board holds short meeting

The Paynesville Area School Board took the following actions at their meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

*The board accepted the resignation of Mary Solum as head cook at the elementary school, effective Feb. 15, 2007. Solum has worked for the school district for 35 years.

*The board accepted the resignation of Amy Jech, a preschool, School Readiness, and ECFE teacher. *The board accepted the resignation of Ken Vork as co-director for middle and high school plays.

*The board approved hiring Ian Pelton as the co-director for middle and high school plays, replacing Vork.

*The board approved a rental agreement with the Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds for the 2006-07 gymnastics program. The agreement is the same as past years, except the deposit was raised from $500 to $800.

*The board approved a revised staff development grant proposal titled, "Reading: Meeting the needs of all Learners K-6," submitted by elementary principal Deb Gillman.

*The board heard a presentation from teacher Dawn Knoll about the new college-credit macroeconomics class's participation in the Classroom of the Future competition. The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 4.
