Students of the Month named for November

Students of the Month Six students from the Paynesville Area Middle School were selected as Students of the Month for November by staff members.

Students are recognized for their work in class, and their behavior toward other students and staff members.

Representing the sixth grade are (standing) Karla Schaefer and Joe Jacklitch; seventh grade, (middle) Stacy Thomsen and Matthew Larson; eighth grade, (in front) Theresa Hedeen and Jon Mohr.

Schaefer is the daughter of Tim and Cindy Schaefer. Her teachers state she is a hard working student, friendly, considerate, and a good student.

She is a member of the sixth grade band and choir. Schaefer enjoys riding her bike, reading, and listening to music. Schaefer said she was happy and excited about winning the award.

Jacklitch is the son of Randy and Ann Jacklitch. His teachers state Jacklitch is a determined student. He is considerate of others, a hard worker, and a well-mannered student.

Jacklitch is a member of the sixth grade choir. He plays hockey, likes science fiction, and enjoys reading and Japanimation.

"It feels good to be picked for the award," Jacklitch said. "I try hard in school. I don't fool around, and I study whenever I can," he added.

Stacy Thomsen is the daughter of Terry and Deb Thomsen. Her teachers state she is a hard worker, friendly towards others, and places emphasis on her course work.

Thomsen is a member of the seventh and eighth grade band, basketball, and volleyball teams.

Her interests are talking with her friends and playing basketball.

Thomsen felt very honored to be named Student of the Month. "I handed in all of my homework and tried really hard," she said.

Larson is the son of Doug and Velda Larson. His teachers state Larson is a good student, a hard worker, and is considerate of others.

Larson is a member of the seventh and eighth grade choir and took part in the middle school play.

His interests include fishing and bow hunting with his brother.

"I feel glad about winning the honor because I never thought I'd win," Larson said. "I have good behavior and I get good grades. I listen and respect others."

Theresa Hedeen is the daughter of Doug and Julie Hedeen. Her teachers state she is a hard worker. She has matured greatly and is doing well in her classes.

Hedeen is a member of the seventh and eighth grade choir. She enjoys riding her bike.

"I felt honored to be selected," she said about the award. "I worked hard this school year," she added.

Jon Mohr is the son of Kelly and Kelley Mohr. His teachers state Mohr is a conscientious student who works above his ability. He is a responsible student and a hard worker.

Mohr performs in the seventh and eighth grade band, and enjoys playing sports and video games.

"I was shocked and happy to be selected Student of the Month," Mohr said. "I'm getting better grades this year," he added as a reason for his winning.
