Nov. Students of the Month named by middle school

The November Students of the Month were recently announced by the Paynesville Area Middle School teachers.

Representing the sixth grade are Jose Almazan and Lisa Lenzmeier; seventh grade, Ross Jaeger and Holly Bennett; and eighth grade, Morgan Martinson and Brad Person.

Lisa Lenzmeier is the daughter of Dale and Mary Lenzmeier, rural Paynesville. Her teachers say she is a hard worker and caring individual. Lisa is one who always comes to class ready to learn, has her assignments done and usually has her hand up politely to answer questions during classroom discussions. She’s been a very enjoyable addition to the classrooms this year as she always has a smile and gives her full attention. Lisa lists as her interests riding her bike, driving their go-cart and some-times reading. She plays the piano and sings in the sixth grade choir. When asked about her feelings towards education, Lisa replied, “You want to get on the “A” honor roll all through your life.”

Jose Almazan is the son of Jose and Ofelia Almazan, rural Paynesville. His teachers say Jose is a very talented hard-working student with a major challenge, adapting to his new school environment. Jose does not speak English, but it is amazing how much he has picked up in language development. He is very polite and a caring person. If everyone worked as hard as Jose does to do well and learn in his new environment, teaching would be a piece of cake. Jose lists as his interests playing soccer and learning new things. He is a member of the sixth grade basketball team. When asked about his feelings on being chosen as student of the month, Jose replied, “Very happy to be picked.”

Holly Bennett is the daughter of Mike and Deb Bennett, rural Paynesville. Her teachers say Holly is polite, has good work habits, is well liked and is a good thinker. Holly lists as her interests playing with her cat, drawing, watching NASCAR racing, making model cars, being in Girl Scouts, hanging around with friends, and being outside in the woods or in the field. Holly was a member of the seventh grade volleyball team, plays in the middle school band, and sings in the choir and pops choir. When asked about her feelings towards education and being chosen student of the month, Holly replied, “I’m happy to be chosen as student of the month. I feel that my education will help me be able to be what I want to be.”

Ross Jaeger is the son of Jack and Polly Jaeger, rural Lake Henry. His teachers say Ross is considerate, has good work habits, is polite, well liked, and a good thinker. Ross lists as his interests, playing sports and fishing. He is a member of the middle school student council, band, basketball, baseball, and football team. When asked about being chosen student of the month, Ross replied, “I think it’s cool.”

Morgan Martinson is the daughter of Luke and Laura Martinson, rural Paynesville. Her teachers say Morgan really seems to enjoy school. She is an active learner who displays a positive attitude. She has a very warm personality and good work ethic. Morgan lists as her interests riding her horse, playing volleyball and basketball, and watching television. She is a member of the eighth grade volleyball, basketball, and track team. When asked about her feelings towards being chosen student of the month, Morgan replied, “I can’t believe I did it. I didn’t even try.”

Brad Person is the son of Scott and Beth Person, rural Paynesville. His teachers say Brad is a very strong independent worker. Brad really listens well in class. He is very respectful of everyone in the school environment. Brad lists as his interests playing sports and collecting football cards. He is a member of the eighth grade football and basketball team. When asked about his feelings on being chosen student of the month, Brad replied, “Surprised!”
