Highway 55 bridge opens between Watkins and Kimball

By Michael Jacobson

The newly constructed bridge on Highway 55 over the Canadian Pacific Railroad, between Watkins and Kimball, opened to traffic on Thursday, Nov. 3.

According to MnDOT project supervisor Micky Klasen, crews completed the remaining paving and striping operations, and the 4.5-mile detour was lifted. The project had encountered a two-week completion delay due to heavy rainfall in the area.

Motorists are urged to drive carefully in the work zone and watch for crews and equipment completing minor turf establishment and maintenance clean-up operations.

The $2.4 million project began in mid-May this year. MnDOT thanks Highway 55 drivers for their patience during this project.
