Green Star awards signify successful participation in the MPCA's innovative Environmental Auditing Program.
The awards were issued to businesses that completed successful environmental audits an examined pollution-prevention opportunities from Jan. 1 to June 30 of 1998.
Earning awards were Laubach Chevrolet-Buick, Warren's Repair, R.J.'s Body Shop and Sales, J&M Auto Service, all of Paynesville; and Rich's Alignment and Service, St. Martin, and Schmitz Sales, Eden Valley.
The purpose of the Environmental Auditing program is to encourage industry, businesses and local governments to conduct environmental audits of their facilities and correct any problems that are discovered, without the fear of fines or penalties.
