Paynesville native writes book

Paul Voss Dr. Paul Voss, a Paynesville native, recently completed a book, "Elizabethan News Phamphlets: Shakespeare, Spenser, Marlowe, and the Birth of Journalism."

His book explores Elizabethan news pamphlets between 1589 and 1593.

An award-winning teacher, Voss is the son of Joe and Sue Voss of Paynesville. A 1982 graduate of Paynesville High School, he teaches courses on Shakespeare and 16th century poetry at Georgia State University.

His research has been published on a variety of topics, including St. Thomas More, iconography, and Shakespeare. He has given lectures in North America and Europe.

Voss earned a bachelor of arts in philosophy at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and completed his Ph.D. in English literature at the University of California.

Voss and his wife, Mary, live in Atlanta with their three children.
