Township board okays wood chipper purchase

By Michael Jacobson

The Paynesville Township Board of Supervisors took the following actions at their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The board met on Tuesday, instead of Monday, since Monday, Oct. 10, was Columbus Day.

*The board approved a new map for their orderly annexation agreement with the city. The map was updated after a few errors were found, notably the new airport (already annexed to the city).

*The board approved purchasing a new wood chipper with the city, splitting the cost. The board authorized spending up to $11,500 for their half of the machine.

*The board approved a conditional-use permit for Gerry and Marlene Kennedy, who want to build an accessory building before a primary residence on 20 acres of land in Section 26.

*The board discussed maintenance needs on Cyrilla Beach Road, which is a road shared by Paynesville Township and Eden Lake Township. The board thinks the blacktop needs to be repaired next year and will contact Eden Lake Township to see what they think should be done.

*The board discussed a proposed conservation easement for the Kruger Pond Nature Preserve. Owner Mary Hahn has proposed these easements, which would limit certain types of development.

The board authorized supervisor Harry Thielen to keep negotiating on behalf of the township as part of the joint city/township committee working on this project.
