By Linda Stelling

Students of Month Students of the Month for October were announced recently at the Paynesville Area Middle School.

The students are selected by their teachers for their participation in class and how well they get along with their peers.

October Student of the Month are: (front) Jamie Paul; (back) Chelsey Hansen and Kristi Louis.

Normally, the teachers select a boy and a girl from each grade for the honor, but this time they selected only one representative for each grade.

Selected from the sixth grade was Chelsey Hansen, daughter of Mel and Bonnie Hansen. Her teachers consider Chelsey a hard worker, friendly, responsible, and a good student.

"I get good grades and try hard in school," Chelsey said about her selection. She was surprised and happy about receiving the honor.

She enjoys playing basketball, volleyball and softball.

Selected from the seventh grade was Kristi Louis, daughter of Adrean and Jean Louis. Her teachers feel she takes pride in her work, and that she is self-motivated, well organized, and quiet but friendly.

"I was surprised to be selected," Kristi said. She credits handing in her homework on time to her receiving this honor.

Kristi is a member of the middle school band and choir and competes on the seventh grade volleyball team.

Representing the eighth grade is James Paul, son of Rick and Jill Paul. His teachers consider him a friendly, responsible student with good leadership qualities.

James was surprised and happy to receive the honor. "I would like to thank Mr. Spanier for this honor because he is my favorite teacher," he said. "I paid attention in class and handed in all my work," he added.

James enjoys sports, especially, hockey, football, and baseball.
