Trail-A-Thon raises $1,300 for new Koronis Trail

Trail-a-thon walkers Under sunny skies, the first Trail-A-Thon was held Saturday, Oct. 9. Through pledges, the Paynesville Area Jaycees raised $1,300 for the proposed Koronis Trail.

The Trail-a-Thon had 68 registered participants that either walked, biked, roller bladed, or ran their way from the Gazebo Park to the Veteran's Memorial Park. Many participants opted to circle the entire lake.

The group of walkers took a more direct route to the Veteran's Memorial Park. They walked down Highway 124 to Veteran's Memorial Park, bypassing the long scenic trek.

All participants received a Trail-A-Thon t-shirt and lunch at Veteran's Memorial Park. Prizes were awarded to the top two fund raisers in each category (walk, bike, rollerblade). Among the prizes handed out were several gift certificates, two bicycles, karaoke machine, electronic keyboard, portable CD player, cycling helmets, water bottles, knee and elbow pads, and various others things.
