Eye for design leads to business

By Bonnie Jo Hanson

diane Since opening her interior decorating business, Diane Fuchs has found that her favorite part of transforming a room is seeing the looks on her clients' faces when she reveals their new rooms for the first time.

Diane's Designs is a full-service interior design business, and Fuchs decorates new homes or redecorates older homes using new or existing furnishings, wall and floor coverings, and accessories. She particularly likes doing "single room makovers," transforming one room from ordinary to extraordinary, she said.

When starting a new project, Fuchs likes to work with a client's personality as well as within the client's budget. Sometimes, all-new furnishings and accessories are called for, she said. And sometimes they aren't. "Sometimes you can create a whole new look with new accent colors," she explained.

Fuchs also specializes in decorative painting and likes to use murals and faux finishes to enhance a room.

Fuchs spent 30 years in decorative accessory sales, and decorated the homes of her friends and family for fun. Eventually, those people convinced Fuchs that she had a knack for decorating that she should share with others.

Fuchs and her husband Bruce live in Paynesville. Decorating is Fuch's hobby as well as her business, and she enjoys transforming her own home and loves decorating the rooms of her grandkids. She also likes to fish and to spend time outdoors with her family.

Fuchs works from her home and is available by appointment. She can be reached at 320-243-3370.
