Area 4-Hers do well at State Fair

Paynesville area exhibitors earned numerous ribbons with their 4-H and open class entries at the Minnesota State Fair.

The State Fair started on Thursday, Aug. 23, and ended Monday, Sept. 3.

Jason Kolb: Holstein fall calf, red ribbon; Stearns County Dairy Judging, ninth place; dairy judging, 97th.

Leanne Kolb: Holstein spring junior year heifer, purple ribbon; dairy showmanship, fifth place; Stearns County Dairy Judging team, ninth place; dairy judging, 15th out of 200; reasons judging, 11th.

Koronis Eager Beavers: Bridget Johnson and Angie Wunsch represented the club's community pride project, purple ribbon.

Caitlin Lien: organic foods (plate of cookies), blue ribbon.

Dan Pearson: market steer, purple ribbon; senior showmanship, purple ribbon.

Brian Rausch: fruit exhibit, blue ribbon.

Kim Rausch:home environment (wooden sewing basket), blue ribbon.

Pam Rausch: food and nutrition, red ribbon.

Justin Reeck: market barrow, red ribbon; herdsmanship, fifth place.

Megan Reeck:market barrow, red ribbon; herdsmanship, fifth place; lamb lead, sixth place.

Jon Schefers: Holstein fall senior yearling, blue ribbon.

Brittney Spanier: vegetable gardening, blue ribbon.

Peggy Thompson: fashion review exhibit, blue ribbon.

Sam Thompson: needle arts (cross stitch), blue ribbon.

Scott Thompson: needle arts (afghan), blue ribbon.

Horse exhibitors compete from Sept. 14 to 17 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Local competitors are Mesa Frenchick, Brittney Spanier, and Justin Spanier.
