Several business and personnel items regarding the 1997-98 school year were discussed at last Tuesday's meting of the Paynesville area Public Schools board of directors. The main discussion was a review of a resolution relating to a continuation of the district's excess levy for increased general education revenue.

On the subject of the excess levy, members of the board previously met with financial advisors. They discussed the official ballot draft for a November 4 special election.

The original ballot draft included two questions regarding an increase in revenue for the school district, but because even the board was confused by the wording of the questions, they decided to include only one question on the referendum as to avoid possible voter confusion.

In other business, Betty Wilkins, director of the West Central Education District, gave an informational report on the upcoming budget for the 1997-98 school year, as well as an overview of personnel.

A resignation from Kelly Woehler as instructional assistant was approved, as was the addition of two new food service workers for the 1997-98 school year. Brad Skoglund was also approved as football coach for the seventh and eight grades.

Lou Storkamp, building and grounds supervisor, gave a report on the many and varied repairs, upgrades, and replacements to the elementary, middle, and high school grounds.
