Hospital board holds meeting

By Michael Jacobson

The Paynesville Area Hospital District Board of Directors took the following actions at their meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 23.

*The board approved updates to its collection policies, as required by its agreement with the Minnesota Attorney General's office last year. Collection policies were reviewed, comparing them to requirements in the attorney general's agreement. A couple changes will be implemented, including specifying that collection actions will be suspended should the subject apply for financial aid.

*The board approved an education loan of $10,000 to technology specialist Matt Brauchler, who is going to pursue a master's degree. His father, Bob Brauchler, abstained from the vote.

*The board approved appointing Dr. Wade Schmidt (cardiology) to the consulting staff, approved appointing Mark Janorschke (CRNA) to the active ancillary staff, and approved the termination of medical privileges for Dr. Camelia Whitten (radiology).

*The board noted a loss from operations of $62,000 in July, which is typically a slow month. Through ten months, the system has profits of $840,000, just slightly below its budgeted profits of $874,000.
