Hospital to celebrate its 50th anniversary

The Paynesville Area Health Care System (PAHCS) will host a community celebration for the 50th anniversary of the Paynesville Area Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

The celebration will be held in the hospital parking lot from 4 to 8 p.m. with food, tours, music, activities for children, history display, and door prizes.

The public hospital in Paynesville opened in November 1956 as a city-owned facility. Ownership was transferred to the Paynesville Area Hospital District - a group of cities and townships that operates using the trade name of the Paynesville Area Health Care System - in October 1992.
