Township, city appoint members to pool committee

By Michael Jacobson

The city of Paynesville and Paynesville Township each appointed four at-large members to a swimming pool committee last week.

The city and township have agreed to share the cost for a feasibility study of a community pool, with an estimated cost of $3,000.

A pool committee is needed to choose a consulting firm, help with a preliminary design, conduct surveys of residents, etc.

For the township, the township board - on Monday, Aug. 12 - appointed Urban Fuchs, Greg Hansen, Lonnie Lien, and Brad Skoglund, with township clerk Don Wiese serving as a nonvoting member. For the city, the council - on Wednesday, Aug. 14 - appointed Mary Janotta, Ron Mergen, Kyle Nehowig, and Cliff Rossler, with city administrator Steve Helget serving as a nonvoting member.

The eight committee members will in turn appoint another three committee members from the community, making a total committee of 11 people, plus the two nonvoting administrators.
