School board opens bread and milk bids

In preparation for the start of the upcoming school year, the Paynesville School Board approved the dairy and bakery bids at their Tuesday night school board meeting.

Three bids had been received from vendors for both milk and bakery items. The low bidder for bakery items, Pan-O-Gold, St. Cloud, was awarded the bakery bid with a total bid of $13,125.

The board debated whether to go with a firm or escalating bid for the dairy products. Unsure of the future milk prices, the board decided to stick with the firm bid from Wenning Distribution, Melrose. Their total bid was $33,222.

The board approved fall athletic assignments for the following:
Football: Kyle Nehowig, head coach; Ron Fuchs and Tim Woehler, assistant coaches; Cameron Mahlum, ninth grade; Jerry Hunt and Mike Elmhorst, eighth grade; Bryan Mara and Brad Skoglund, seventh grade.

Volleyball: Sheila Mayer, head coach; Sarah Winter, assistant coach; Tracy Anderson, ninth grade; Karlin Jacoby, eighth grade; and Romi Mohr, seventh grade.

Cross country: Darrel Carstens, head coach; and

Danceline: Colleen Peyerl.

In other business:
The board approved the contract for Dave Dziengel as a middle school science teacher.
