The Girl Scouts spent the week of Aug. 10-13 at the Koronis Regional Park on south shore of Lake Koronis. For the most part it was a day camp, but they did spend one night at the park.

The theme for this years camp was Rise and Shine at Day Camp.

Girl Scouts taking part in the camp were from Paynesville, St. Martin, Belgrade, and Brooten.

There were 85 girls that attended the camp. Their ages varied from first through ninth grade.

On Monday and Tuesday the girls were at the camp from 1 until 8 p.m. On Wednesday they also came out at 1 p.m., but they stayed until 10 a.m. on Thursday morning.

There were eight units this year, which has been more than recent years which have never been anymore than six.

Some of the things the girls did was canoe, swim, do some crafts, and have water olympics. They also made pillows and also learned a skit. The girls learned the eight basic outdoor skills, which are first aid, night saftey, knot tying, fire building, cooking outdoors, protect the outdoors, dress for the outdoors, and good manners in the outdoors. They also played many games while they were waiting for the camp to start each day.
