More than 300 flowers were entered in the 39th annual Grace Church Flower Show.The theme of the show this year was “It’s for the Birds.” “We received a lot of arrangements and were well satisfied with the turnout considering the dry, hot weather conditions,” Helen Bluhm, co-organizer of the show, said.
Winners were: advance amateur, Marlene Christle, first place; Evelyn Moore, second place.
Amateur: Bernice Lewerenz, first place; Vicky Frank, second.
Children: Stephanie Pelkey and Kayla Pelkey, blues; Paige and Courtney Higgins, reds
Horticultural: Delores Heitke, first place; Loretta Kohler, second.
Judge’s Choice Award went to Bernice Lewerenz, Paynesville, with an all green hydrangea arrangement in the “Parrot” category.
People’s Choice Award was given to Karen Snyder, Paynesville, with her all white mum and snapdragon arrangement in the “Dove” category.
