The Class of 1977 held their 20th reunion on July 19 at the Sportman’s Den. Providing entertainment was class member Darrell Lourey, a slight of hand magician. As part of his grand finale, he found a girl’s class ring in his bouquet of silk scarves.

The ring was actually found about 20 years ago in the Black Saucer parking lot by a woman passing through Paynesville. Before she could return it, she died. It was forgotten about until recently. The ring was given to Paynesville’s Activities Director Bill Virant by the Howard Lake-Waverly track coach.

Virant looked up the initials MMH from the Class of 1977. He in turn called Gretchen O’Fallon who set up the return of the ring as part of the reunion program.

As the initials were read, Margaret Marie Holper Grondahl stood up in surprise, and the ring was given back to her with a letter from the family of the lady who originally found it 20 years ago.
