10,000 attend Cornstalk '99

Cornstalk Regal's largest event took place this week, as an estimated 10,000 came to see Cornstalk.

It is believed that this may have been the biggest Cornstalk ever.

Friday night's main performer was Joe Diffie. Rhett Akins, Lila McCann, and Diamond Rio played Saturday night

. An estimated 4,000 people came through the gate on Friday to see many of the area bands which included Keystone, with the main performance of the evening being by Diffe.

On Saturday, Akins got things started off. He was followed by a St. Cloud area band called Young Country. Then McCann took the stage and the night was capped off by Diamond Rio. It is believed that about 6,000 people attended on Saturday.

Akins was very good with the crowd. He greeted them by saying, "I'm down with Minnesota, I like this state."

Akins played three encore songs before leaving the stage to get the fans pumped up on Saturday.

McCann signed autographs before her performance, and joked with the crowd during her performance.

For the final performance of the night, Diamond Rio rocked the crowd their hit song "Unbelievable."

Tenative plans for Cornstalk 2000 are to make it a three-night show. Early bird tickets are currently on sale.
