Bank of the West promotes two

currens Pelz Bank of the West has promoted Shirley Pelz, pictured right, to branch manager and David Currens, pictured left, to senior credit officer for its Paynesville and Greenwald branches.

Paynesville and Greenwald are two of the 26 Bank of the West locations in Minnesota.

Pelz began her banking career in 1975 at First Bank in Paynesville. In 2001, she relocated to the Community First Bank in Cheyenne, Wyo., and was named branch sales manager in 2004. She returned to the Paynesville branch of Bank of the West as branch sales manager in February 2005.

She has been a member of both the Rotary Club and the Lions Club and a volunteer for the United Way in Cheyenne and for the Paynesville Area Community Service Center.

Pelz and her family live in Paynesville.

Currens previously was a commercial relationship manager and investment executive with Community First Bank. Prior to that, he served as fiscal supervisor for Todd County Social Services, in Long Prairie.

He is a graduate of Minnesota State University-Moorhead and was also a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard from 1981 to 2002. He is currently serving as the president of the Paynesville Area Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Paynesville Public Charitable Trust Ad Hoc Committee and is a member of the Koronis Hills Men's League Committee.

Currens and his family live in Paynesville.
