Sister Mary Bernard Lieser to celebrate 50th jubilee

Sister Lieser Sister Mary Bernard Lieser OSB, originally from St. Louis Catholic Church Parish, Paynesville, will celebrate her 50th jubilee as a Benedictine Sister on Aug. 15 at the 10:30 a.m. mass at St. Louis Catholic Church, Paynesville.

The mass will be concelebrated by nephews Fathers Gregory Lieser, Vincent Lieser, Tim Baltus, Mark Stang, and by Father Richard Leisen, pastor at St. Louis Catholic Church. Music will be provided by nieces and nephews under the direction of Sister Margaret Mandernach, OSB, and Noreen Lieser.

A dinner at the parish center will follow the mass. An open house reception is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. for relatives and friends at the Othmar Braun American Legion Hall on County Road 32.

Sister Mary Bernard (Marie Catherine) Lieser is the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Hemmesch) Lieser and was born on the Lieser century farm in Zion Township. She made her first vows on March 25, 1949, at St. Gertrude Monastery, Cottonwood, Idaho. Sister Lieser has dedicated the past 47 years to providing health care as a nurse and nurse anesthetist. She is currently employed at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho
