MnDOT does maintenance on Highway 55 west of town

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) scheduled maintenance work on a two-mile stretch of Highway 55 west of Paynesville starting Monday, July 12. The road maintenance was near the intersection with Highway 4 west of Paynesville and required single-lane traffic.

Work began on Monday, July 12, and was expected to be finished by Wednesday, July 14.

The daytime lane closures were necessary for maintenance crews to replace deteriorating concrete panels on Highway 55, according to MnDOT. During the work, flaggers controlled traffic and motorists were directed through the work zone by alternating the direction of travel on a single lane of the highway.

MnDOT reminds motorists to slow down in construction areas, to be alert for workers and equipment, and to obey directions from traffic-control personnel.
