Korman Eric Korman, a senior this fall at Paynesville Area High School (PAHS), placed first in the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) youth writing event. His story, "A Deer Hunting Experience," was automatically entered in the national writing contest after it won the state competition, sponsored by Outdoor News.

The story will be published in an upcoming issue of Outdoors Unlimited, a monthly journal of the OWAA.

Korman originally wrote the essay for an assignment in his narrative and descriptive writing class at PAHS. Korman submitted the story after he heard about the Outdoor News contest. The essay won the prose division. It was printed in the Feb. 9, 2000, edition of the Paynesville Press.

Korman is the son of Bill and Sue Korman, Hawick.
