On July 4 at 12:50 a.m., Stearns County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the City of Roscoe. Richard Thomas Christian, age 49, of Roscoe was arrested at the scene for second degree assault.

Christian allegedly had a confrontation with a 19-year-old male from Richmond in downtown Roscoe. Christian reportedly pointed a 45-calibre double barreled handgun at the victim. Another individual, after seeing the weapon being pointed at the victim, struck Christian in the face, knocking him to the sidewalk.

At some point when Christian fell to the sidewalk one round was discharged from the weapon into the entryway of the Roscoe Bar. Christian is currently being held in the Stearns County Jail. The Stearns County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Paynesville and Richmond Police Departments. Investigation of this matter continues.
