Former POW to be part of WCCO show

Milt Koshiol of Paynesville, who served in Gen. George Patton's Third Army in World War II, will be part of a program on WCCO-TV on Saturday night.

Koshiol will share his war experiences on the show "Out 'n' About with R.J. Fritz" at 10:35 p.m. on Saturday, July 6.

The program grew out of monthly roundtable talks held at Fort Snelling by WWII veterans. Koshiol has taken part in two of the roundtables.

The show will specifically focus on the Hamelburg Raid, an attempt to liberate a POW camp that held Americans, including Gen. Patton's son-in-law. Koshiol was part of the small force sent on the raid to free the camp, and he was captured along with much of the rest of the force.

The show will also feature a Richfield veteran who was being held prisoner in the Hamelburg POW camp.

The show is being written and produced by Milt's son, Don Koshiol, a 1978 graduate of PHS.
