Kids enjoy summer library programs

Sixteen wizards gathered at the Paynesville Public Library on Saturday, June 21, to celebrate the release of the fifth Harry Potter book - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

The event - which also attracted seven parents - included a drawing for four copies of the book, a trivia contest, and prizes for all.

It was the latest in a summer-long series of events at the Paynesville Public Library, sponsored by the Friends of the Paynesville Public Library.

The series started in June with sessions on dinosaurs, knights, mummies, and pirates. The series will continue to be held throughout July and into August.

The story hour and activities begin at 3 p.m. every Monday afternoon. In July, the topics are: After-noon on the Amazon on Monday, July 7; Midnight on Moon on July 14; Dolphins at Daybreak on July 21; Lions at Lunchtime on July 28; Vacation Under the Volcano on Aug. 4; Day of the Dragon King on Aug. 11; and Buffalo Before Breakfast on Aug. 18.
