Fireworks to be set off on Saturday
The Fourth of July fireworks display will be held on Saturday, July 3, at dusk.

Sponsored by the Paynesville Area Jaycees, they will set off the fireworks from First Island on Lake Koronis. In case of rain, the fireworks will be held on Sunday, July 4. If you choose to view the fireworks display from a boat or other flotation device, stay a safe distance away from the island. The Paynesville Area Jaycees are busy raising funds for their annual fireworks display. Funds needed to put on a display is between $5,000 and $7,000. Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so at local business places and lending institutions.

Boat parades are being planned
Two Fourth of July boat parades are being planned for area lakes. On Lake Koronis, pontoons and boats interested in being the parade should meet at the Regional Park on the south shore at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3.

Boaters interested in being in the Rice Lake boat parade are asked to meet at the Morning Star Resort at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4. The parade will begin at 6 p.m.

Boaters are encouraged to decorate their boats for the holiday. For safety and protection of the lakeshore, boaters are being asked to keep the speeds at a slower rate.
