*The board reviewed financial data for the month of May. The Paynesville Area Health Care System earned a profit of $79,100 in May, bringing their year-to-date total to $813,500 through eight months of their fiscal year. This represents an improvement of over $950,000 from last year and exceeds the budget by $487,000.

*The board learned that negotiations continue between PAHCS and the doctors' group on a new contract. The current five-year deal expires in July.

*The board approved the following appointments to the medical staff: Jody Bolton Smith, M.D., (radiology) to the consulting staff; and Darren Glass, M.D., (surgery) and Kevin Smith, M.D., (radiologist) for completing the provisional period. The board also accepted the termination of medical staff privileges for Jeff Arnholt, M.D., (radiologist).

*The board approved a privilege request for James Weeks, M.D., and Dr. Patrick Oakes, M.D., to do closures of saphenous veins (commonly called varicose veins).
